Botanic Garden

August 6, 2018

A few weeks ago I went out to the University of Alberta Botanic Garden with my mom and sister. We went to see the new Aga Khan Garden, but walked around the rest of it while we were there. It was a super nice day to be out and it was so beautiful seeing all of the new architecture put in place. We went inside to the butterfly show house which was even hotter than being outdoors. There were a bunch of different butterflies there, and the prettiest flowers! I'd love to see the gardens at different points in the summer to see how the flowers change. It's such a beautiful place to spend an afternoon with family! ... read more

Montreal

May 17, 2018

Rows and rows of colourful houses each with their own unique spiral staircase, the Plateau packs a punch with the utmost personality. The neighbourhood offers endless options for cafés, shopping, and picturesque walks up the beautiful Mont-Royal. L'Avenue is the place to indulge in your greatest breakfast dreams. We stopped here to fuel up before a day of exploring. No way I could pass up huevos rancheros! We made our way from the Plateau to Old Montreal, stopping for lunch on our way to the basilica. The Basilique Notre-Dame is one of the most beautiful churches I've been to. The building is lined with gorgeous stained glass and features the most amazing wooden spiral stairs. Montreal Graduation

May 11, 2018

Last weekend I flew down to Montreal to see my best friend, Eva, graduate from the National Theatre School. I met up with her family and some other friends there and spent the weekend celebrating our girl. On our first day we marched up Mount Royal for ice cream and a view. It's not much of a commitment to hiking, but perfect for a Saturday morning. After watching Eva's final performance, I went with my friend Syd and Eva's family for poutine. We were able to make it through the line of people waiting outside La Banquise and had so many options for poutine to choose from. I highly recommend this place if you're on the hunt for the world's best poutine (I know I am). Sunday was the ... read more

Black Sand Beach

March 30, 2018

Hana is the most picturesque little town I've ever seen. We ate lunch overlooking the rainforest and stopped in at a little art gallery when we were done. It started raining while we were there, but we braved the weather and continued on to the Black Sand Beach. Something about black sand I just can't get enough. It was even more beautiful with the rain and so refreshing after being in the car for so long. Even without swimming you can't get bored here, there are tons of little nooks around the beach to explore.  I could have stood here with my free shower for hours. The waves crashing against the rocks was amazing. The sea spray came so high up and was mesmerizing to hear and watch. To ... read more

Ireland

March 17, 2018

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I wanted to share some photos from a trip to Ireland a few years ago. Our main stops there were to Dublin and Doolin with a few other towns in between. In Doolin we stayed in a little cottage just down the road from the Cliffs of Moher. This is the most beautiful place and is super close to the Aran Islands for a day trip. From Dublin we rented a car and drove up to Northern Ireland for a night so that we could see the Giant's Causeway and the Dark Hedges. We visited the Giant's Causeway years ago when I was a kid, but it was cool to see it again and go for a bit of a walk around there. The Dark Hedges we only went to to feed our Game of Thrones hunger. It took ... read more

The Road to Hana

March 8, 2018

My favourite day in Maui was spent driving the Road to Hana. Although I get pretty carsick, the twisty ride was worth it (at least once)! We loaded up the car around 9 a.m. with snacks and raincoats to get us through the day, and then stopped to grab smoothies for the drive. My smoothie lasted less time than the half hour it took them to make it, but it was refreshing nonetheless. Our first stop was at Twin Falls. We were lucky to do this walk before it started raining, but we ended up getting wet anyway when halfway through the trek the trail turned into a creek. The walk was so beautiful, and next time I would bring a swim suit to use at the waterfall pool. When we got to Hana we ate ... read more

Lahaina

March 3, 2018

There's nothing that quite compares to beach life. I love travelling, and definitely can't get enough of exploring, but relaxing on the beach is just somethin' else. I stayed at a condo in Lahaina with my family and we had a lot of fun there. There was a bit of a community at the condo which was nice to have, and a market close by to keep us eating fresh and organic! My parents have a blow up stand up paddle board that they brought with them, and we also borrowed a kayak from one of our neighbours there to play with in the waves. One of the coolest things there was the sea turtles that would come up onto the beach to lay in the sun. From our beach we were able to spot a few whales almost ... read more

Maui Luau

February 22, 2018

This year for reading week I flew down to Maui to meet up with my parents. We’re staying at this cute condo right in front of the ocean and we have the most amazing view! On Family Day we went to the Old Lahaina Luau. We got there a little bit early so that we could take some pictures, walk around, and see the roasted pig being uncovered from the ground. The food was so good, and we ended up seeing a gorgeous sunset right as the performers began dancing. I’ve been to one other Luau on the island, but this one was so much more impressive. I highly recommend going to any Luau if you are coming to the island, however, if you can swing it this is the one to see! I hope everyone had a great ... read more

Home

January 18, 2018

After being away for a few months, I've really been trying to appreciate home. I definitely didn't miss the cold weather when I was in Mexico, but being home for Christmas was worth it. In Mexico I spent a lot of time exploring nearby towns and ended up going on a lot of weekend trips. I want to do more of that now that I'm back in Canada. There are so many beautiful places in Alberta, but I often forget about them just daydreaming of other countries. This spot in the river valley is so close to where I live, and in my opinion is one of the most beautiful places in Edmonton. We always take our dog here, and I think he loves it even more than I do! (He definitely deals with the cold walks ... read more

Top 10 Travel Moments of 2017

January 2, 2018

2017 was a crazy fun year, I can't believe how fast it went by! I've loved all of the adventures I've had this year and am sharing some of my favourites with you today. 1. June - Vancouver Island Camping at East Sombrio Beach feels like a lifetime ago. We saw some beautiful sunsets at this spot and I loved spending three days in the sun so close to nature. One of my favourite memories from this stop on our tour was doing all of our laundry in a nearby stream and laying it all out to dry in the sun as if we were displaying all of our clothing to sell, something about that just seemed really funny to me. 2. July - Jökulsárlón This glacial lagoon was one of the coolest (literally ... read more
