Wengen

After leaving Basel, my family piled into a rental van and drove towards the mountains. We parked the van in Lauterbrunnen where we had to take a cogwheel train up to Wengen where we were staying. Our first night there we went to the Sunstar Grillkota for cheese fondue. We sat inside the cosy cabin altogether around the fire while we ate an unhealthy amount of cheese and bread.

We had one day of rain during our time there where we spent the morning in the house playing cards, and then explored the town in the afternoon. There are a few shops to explore there, but they are mostly tourist shops and sports stores. Other than that there are trails around that you can walk and lots of restaurants to stop at for lunch.

Wengen is such a pretty place to stay while you explore the alps. We spent a few of our days exploring towns outside of Wengen as well, taking the cogwheel train to Jungfrau, Lauterbrunnen, and Grindelwald. The mountains were beautiful and a really nice escape from the heat of Basel!
